This day's main event was the wedding. We started the day with breakfast at Another Broken Egg, a great breakfast restaurant (located mostly in the Southeast, although they do have one location here in the LA area), and then went and got dressed in our wedding finery.
The wedding was held on the steps of the Parthenon (w). I know, you thought the Parthenon was in Greece. It is, but Nashville has a full-scale replica, originally built for the 1897 Centennial Exposition. Here's a picture, borrowed from my trip log of our 2019 visit to Nashville:
While waiting for the bride and groom to arrive, I took some pictures:
Temple pillars.
Centennial Park, as seen from the temple steps.
Then the bride and groom arrived, and we had a wedding... and here are the pictures to prove it:
The two women standing behind Carlos and Ashley are Susan, Ashley's mother (white hair and glasses), and Mirta, Carlos' mother (dark hair, holding Carlos' dog, Xena). Ashley's stepfather Eddie was also there, but like me, he was walking around taking pictures, and I didn't get a picture of him.
After the ceremony, we all went for lunch to the Cajun Steamer, an excellent Cajun/Creole restaurant, after which we all went back to Susan and Eddie's house for cake and conversation:
The wedding cake, a quarter sheet cake with white frosting and white chocolate curls, and a gold colored decoration stuck into it reading "Mr and Mrs." Behind the cake is a large bouquet of pink and yellow flowers in a tall vase.
Ashley and Carlos preparing to cut the cake.
And then Terry and Lucia and Esmond and I went back to our hotel... after stopping for a late night snack at a drive through.
