Last day. We slept in again, packed up and checked out, and went to brunch at the Court Of Two Sisters. This is reportedly the oldest restaurant in New Orleans, and they have a brunch that never ends. While we ate, we were entertained by a three-piece jazz band. The next few pictures were taken at the restaurant:

After brunch, we puttered around until it was time to go. We went back to the meat market at French Market, where I bought some alligator, crawfish and frog's legs. They packed them up in a freezer box which they guaranteed me would keep the meat frozen until I got home (not quite - it was starting to thaw a bit by the time I put it away). Then, just before I headed for the airport, I rolled down the window, and drove around the Quarter, finishing by driving down Bourbon Street. Little bits and pieces of music floated in and out of the car as I drove. It seemed like a fitting end to the trip.

So we went back to the airport, where we had one last adventure. The flight was overbooked, and they were asking for volunteers to be bumped off the flight. They offered a hotel room and dinner, and $200. We thought about it, and were tempted, but decided to skip it and go home. Then, once we were on the plane, they again announced that they needed to bump some more people, and they had upped the stakes to $300. We decided to go for it. We got up, got off the plane, got out to the desk - and found out that they had all the volunteers they needed. We were too late.

So we flew home and unpacked. The following Monday, Terry went back to work, and I started looking for work. Vacation was over, and real life resumed.
