Another day of visiting with Bob and Jean. On the drive down, we passed a small local airport called Wynkoop Airport:
...on the outskirts of Mount Vernon, a medium size town not far from the resort. I was surprised to notice that the runway wasn't paved. Airplanes at this airport take off and land on grass:
We took Bob and Jean to lunch at Skyline Chili (w) for some Cincinnati style chili (w) . This is a very different dish from the chili con carne we have here in the Southwest. It was originated by Greek immigrants, contains cinnamon and chocolate (yes, chocolate), and is served over spaghetti, topped with beans, onions and cheese.
Terry and I had tried Cincinnati Chili on our last visit to Ohio, and this time, Terry told her Dad that if he was going to spend so much time in Ohio, he had to try it, too. So here we all are, enjoying our chili:
After I took that picture, I realized that I should have taken a picture of the chili before everyone started eating. So I turned to the table next to ours, where the customers had just received their chili, and asked if I could take a picture before they started eating. They laughed, and told me to go ahead:
We spend a quiet afternoon just hanging out, and then went to the Olive Garden for Jean's birthday dinner:
The two women to Jean's right are her good friends Gerry (next to Jean) and Brenda. The woman in yellow at the far end of the table is Jean's daughter Linda, and next to her is her sister-in-law Trudy. The man in blue (not me, the other man in blue) is Linda's son Larry, and the woman next to him is his wife, Trisha.
