Happy Birthday, Terry! A couple of days earlier, I had gone and ordered a birthday cake from a bakery up the road, with an appropriate name:

the bakery's name is Tortas Santa Teresa

...and this morning, I went and picked it up, and brought it back to my own Santa Teresa.

A little later, I walked up to the local supermarket to use the ATM. While I was there, I amused myself by looking around. I find it interesting to browse through supermarkets in foreign countries, looking at the mixture of familiar international brands and unfamiliar local products.

Earlier, I mentioned Nancy's three children - Nati and Andres, who live with Nancy and her sisters, and Juan David, who is currently living in New Zealand with his wife, Tatiana. Juan David and Tatiana, you may remember, spent a day with us a few months ago, when they were on their way to New Zealand.

Well, this day all of us - Terry and I, Nati, Nancy, Bettye and both Gracielas - all went to visit Marina, Tatiana's mother. Also in attendance were Tatiana's sister Vanessa, her uncle Henry (Marina's brother), and her cousin Paulina (Henry's daughter, I think). It was a lively bunch. I got out my iPhone, and took a video of everyone sending greetings to Tatiana and Juan David. I then emailed the video to Tatiana, but I never did find out if she got it.

After lunch, someone produced a guitar, and we all started trading songs. Graciela sang a couple of songs, and then Paulina played and she and Henry sang, and then she and Nati sang a song which turned out to be in English - it was "I'm Yours," by Jason Mraz.

When it was my turn, I played "Cantares" again - of course - and again, everyone sang along on the chorus. Then, instead of playing "Psalm 121" again, I decided to be different. I asked Terry to interpret the lyrics - not word for word, she just gave the general sense of each song - and I proceeded to play "Can't Help But Wonder Where I'm Bound," by Tom Paxton, and then - of all things - "Try," by P!nk. Then Henry mentioned that my voice sounded like a country/western singer, so of course I had to play my own (in)famous country/western song, "Poor Man's Bride!"

Then we went back home and had a quiet evening.
