This was an adventurous day for some of us... but not for all of us.
The big excursion this day was a trip to Copper Canyon Adventure Park, or as it's known in Spanish, Parque de Aventura Barrancas del Cobre. This is a place featuring a number of adventures, including a cable car (the aerial kind), hanging bridges through the forest canopy, and mutiple ziplines, including one that they claim is the longest in the world, and one that you ride sitting down.
There was quite a bit of drama surrounding this excursion. In the first place, the website lists a number of rules as to who is not allowed to ride the ziplines; i.e., people above a certain weight, people with heart conditions, pregnant women.... and people who are blind. Obviously, this didn't sit well with Terry and Lucia, especially after the fight with the train. So we complained to the tour operator, who talked to Juan, who talked to the park management, and we got the word that we'd all be able to go ziplining, after all.
But then, the night before, Montezuma began to take his revenge on Terry. We had been very careful to only drink bottled water, and we even used bottled water to take pills and rinse our toothbrushes. But somehow, something got through to Terry, and she was really sick Monday night. Tuesday morning she felt a little better, but still was in no shape for the Adventure Park. So Terry stayed at the hotel, and I stayed with her, and Lucia, Esmond and Blanca went to the park.
The woman who ran the hotel gave Terry some medicine, and by the afternoon, she was feeling better. Then, when the others got back, they said that it was just as well that Terry didn't go. Apparently, getting from one zipline to the next involved steep climbs up rough stairs under the hot sun. They said they were exhausted by the time they were done.
