We never did ride the streetcar. We got up and checked out of the motel, and drove around for a while. (We do that a lot - I enjoy driving, and Terry enjoys riding.) Then we stopped for breakfast at (where else?) Voodoo Doughnuts. I had an "Old Dirty Bastard" - a raised donut with chocolate frosting, peanut butter swirls and crushed Oreos. Terry had a "No Name" - same as mine, but with Rice Krispies instead of Oreos.
Then we drove across the river - again! - into Washington, and went to the little town of La Center:
...to visit Terry's niece Kelly:
...her husband Chip:
...their little boy Kyle:
...and their dog Grover:
Grover is a Welsh Corgi, and has the shortest legs I've ever seen on a dog. I commented that when he lay down, you couldn't tell the difference!

And there's not much more to say about that day. We spent the afternoon and evening visiting. I went to play blackjack at one of several Indian casinos in town, had a run of bad luck, quickly lost $50, and quit while I was behind. We all went out to dinner at a local Mexican restaurant, where Kyle was fascinated by my reading the menu to Terry in Spanish.
Time to go home. We got up early and hit the road. On the drive north, we took the scenic route, and took our time. On the drive south, we hit the interstate and drove straight through:
At Grants Pass, we left the interstate and stopped for lunch. The drive from that point, on US Highway 199, was quite scenic, even if we didn't have time to stop and admire it.
We got back to McKinleyville with some time to spare, so we stopped back at Katherine and Richard's house and visited for a while. Then we caught our flight home, and that was the end of the trip.
